The measurement is where most DIY installs go wrong. Window openings are not perfectly square. The top of the recess is almost never the same width as the bottom. Walls are not perfectly plumb. A professional measures each window at multiple points and uses the tightest dimension to ensure the blind fits cleanly without jamming or leaving gaps.

For curtains, the track position and spacing determine how the fabric hangs. A track mounted too low leaves a gap at the ceiling. A track mounted off centre creates uneven stacking when the curtains are open. Getting the bracket spacing right so the track does not sag under the weight of the fabric is a technical detail that most DIY installations miss.
