Blinds Logan Reserve: planning a whole new house, room by room

A One Curtains and Blinds makes and fits custom blinds, curtains, plantation shutters and screens for homes in Logan Reserve, including whole new houses done in one go. We measure the lot in a single free visit, make everything in our Hillcrest workshop and send our own team to install it.

Logan Reserve is filling up

Logan Reserve has a split personality. Most of it is still acreage bushland, with blocks of two to ten acres and houses ranging from cottages to country estates. The north end is more suburban, and newer estates such as Aldeia and Park Lane Reserve have added a lot of fresh homes on smaller lots.

The name goes back to 1862, when the Logan Agricultural Reserve opened for settlement. These days the Logan Reserve people calling us are more likely to be holding a new set of keys and looking at twenty bare windows.

Why do the whole house at once?

You can do it in stages, and sometimes the budget says you should. But there are good reasons to plan it together if you can:

  • One measure, one quote and one install day instead of three.
  • Colours and fabrics match from room to room because they're chosen side by side.
  • Privacy and sleep are sorted from the first night.

Blinds for Logan Reserve homes, room by room

This is roughly how we'd plan a typical new four-bedroom home in Logan Reserve. Yours will differ, and we'll adjust it at the measure.

Bedrooms

Sleep comes first. Blockout roller blinds are simple and effective, and shift workers and young kids both appreciate a properly dark room. Double roller blinds add a light-filtering layer on the same bracket, so you can have soft daylight without anyone seeing in.

Living and dining

This is where curtains earn their keep. Sheer curtains give privacy from the street while keeping the room bright. Double curtains pair a sheer with a blockout on one track, which is handy if the TV faces a window.

Sliding doors

Sliding doors get used dozens of times a day, so the covering has to cope with that. Vertical blinds are practical and let you walk straight through. Zebra blinds are a neater look if the door isn't a main thoroughfare. If you want a flyscreen or security door on the same opening, we make those too.

Bathrooms, laundry and kitchen

Wet areas need materials that won't warp or grow mould. PVC venetians work well here, and so do PVC plantation shutters, which start from $250 per square metre and handle moisture without fuss.

Outside

If the alfresco cops afternoon sun, motorised outdoor blinds make it usable. Many people add them a little later, once they've lived through a summer and know where the sun hits.

If the budget won't stretch to everything

Here's the order we'd suggest, based on what people miss most when it isn't there:

  1. Bedrooms, for sleep and privacy.
  2. Bathrooms and any window facing a neighbour.
  3. Street-facing living areas.
  4. Sliding doors and screens.
  5. Outdoor blinds and motorisation.

Measuring the whole house up front still helps, because you'll have a quote for later stages and a plan that fits together.

What happens on the day

We bring full-size samples so you can see fabrics in your new rooms, not under shop lights. We measure every opening, go through the plan above with you and send a quote. Once you're happy, we make everything to measure in Hillcrest and our own installers fit it. We don't use subcontractors.

Why Logan Reserve families pick us

We're local to Logan, the work is Australian made in our own workshop, and we have a 5-star Google rating from 59 reviews. Customers often mention Jessy and Puneet from our install team by name. If anything needs attention down the track, we do repairs and professional cleaning too.

With kids in a new house, cord safety matters. Corded internal blinds must meet the ACCC's mandatory safety standard, and motorised blinds remove cords altogether. You can see our finished work on the projects page.

Logan Reserve questions, answered

Contact us

Can you quote a whole new house in Logan Reserve in one visit?

Yes. We measure every window and door in one free visit and give you a single quote. You can then go ahead with all of it or stage it.

What's the best blind for a bedroom?

A blockout roller blind is the simplest way to get a dark bedroom. If you also want soft daylight with privacy, a double roller adds a light-filtering blind on the same bracket.

What should I put on sliding doors?

Vertical blinds are the practical choice for doors you walk through all day. Zebra blinds or curtains suit doors that open less often. We can also add an insect or security screen door.

What window coverings suit bathrooms?

PVC venetians and PVC plantation shutters both handle moisture well. Shutters start from $250 per square metre.

What's the difference between sheer and double curtains?

A sheer curtain is a single light fabric that gives privacy while letting light through. Double curtains add a blockout curtain on the same track system, so you can close either layer.

Can I do the house in stages?

Yes. Plenty of people start with bedrooms and bathrooms and add living areas and outdoor blinds later. Measuring everything up front gives you a plan and a price for each stage.

Are your products made in Australia?

Yes. We make our curtains, blinds and screens to measure in our own workshop at Hillcrest in Logan.

Can blinds be motorised in a new home?

Yes. We fit Somfy or Alpha motors, controlled by remote, wall switch, app or voice with Alexa or Google Home. Timers and light sensors are options too.

Do you install screens as well as blinds?

We do. We make insect screens and security doors and screens in diamond grille, heavy duty and pet mesh, with welded corners.

Is there a cost for the measure and quote?

No, it's free and there's no obligation. We bring full-size samples so you can see them in your own rooms.
